ANTI-ARRHYTHMIC EFFECT OF DEHYDROBENZPERIDOL IN DOGS

SUMMARY The anti-arrhythmic activity of dehydrobenzperidol (DBP) was studied during halothane anaesthesia in dogs. Arrhythmias were provoked by single intravenous injections of catecholamines. Two groups of dogs were studied. One received norepinephrine and the odier epinephrine. The dose just sufficient to initiate arrirythmias was defined as the “threshold”. Electrocardiogram, blood pressure and heart rate were monitored. The principal findings were:— 1  The dog heart was “sensitized” to epinephrine and norepinephrine by halothane. 2  DBP did have an anti-arrhydimic action. Acute, subchronic and discontinuation effects of zopiclone on sleep EEG and nocturnal melatonin secretion

Zopiclone is a new short half-life cyclopyrrolone hypnotic agent acting at the GABA-benzodiazepine receptor complex. In order to characterize its pharmacological profile, the effects of 7.5 mg zopiclone on nocturnal melatonin secretion were investigated under polysomnographic control in 11 healthy subjects following acute and subchronic administration as well as after abrupt discontinuation of the drug. No effect of zopiclone on the melatonin plasma levels could be observed. Experience with the Hellp-Syndrohe

A total of 13 patients with HELLP-Syndrome were treated between 1980 and 1986 at the Mainz University Gynecology Clinic. The course of disease, complications, and fetal outcome observed do not permit generalized recommendations concerning treatment of this syndrome. The treatment plan should rather be based on the Individual situation, whereby the cesarean section has proven to be the preferred mode of delivery in almost all cases.

Pelvic side wall recurrences of gynecological malignancies subsequent to primary or adjuvant radiation therapy have a bad prognosis, although in almost half of the cases, distant metastases are not present at the time of diagnosis of the local tumor progression. A radical operative resection of the pelvic wall recurrence is rarely possible and a second conventional percutaneous or intracavitary irradiation with a tumoricidal dose is no longer feasible, because of the limited radiation tolerance of the surrounding pelvic tissue.
