Lithium in metal-poor red giants

AbstractThe lithium abundance was calculated for five metal-poor red giant stars from Li i doublet at 6707 Å by fitting the observed high-resolution spectra with synthetic spectra. The lithium abundance was found to be low in all stars, logϵ(Li) ≤ 1.8, confirming lithium depletion on the red giant and asymptotic giant branch.

Proper motions of embedded protostellar jets in Serpens

Context. To investigate the dynamical properties of protostellar jets. Aims. Determine the proper motion of protostellar jets around Class 0 and Class I sources in an active star forming region in Serpens. Methods. Multi-epoch deep images in the 2.122 $\mu$m line of molecular hydrogen, v=1-0 S(1), obtained with the near-infrared instrument NOTCam over a time-scale of 10 years, are used to determine proper motion of knots and jets. K-band spectroscopy of the brighter knots is used to supply radial velocities, estimate extinction, excitation temperature, and H$_2$ column densities towards these knots. Results. Galaktikas sarkanā pudura zvaigžņu augstas izšķirtspējas spektrālie pētījumi

Šajā darbā ir iepazītas zvaigžņu spektroskopijas metodes un darbs ar tam paredzētajām datorprogrammām. Ir veikta sarkanā pudura zvaigznes Omega Serpentis (HD 141680) augstas izšķirtspējas spektroskopija izmantojot spektru uzņēmumus, kas iegūti ar augstas izšķirtspējas spektrogrāfu SOFIN, kas uzmontēts Ziemeļvalstu Optiskajam Teleskopam (Nordic Optical Telescope), un noteikti zvaigznes galvenie fizikālie raksturlielumi, kā arī ķīmiskais sastāvs. Iegūtie rezultāti apstiprina, ka Omega Serpentis ir metāliem bagāta sarkanā pudura zvaigzne ar Saulei līdzīgu ķīmisko sastāvu. Veiktie pētījumi ļauj uzdot arī aptuvenas iespējamās HD 141680 masas vērtības robežas, kuras labi saskan ar teorētiski pare…
