Pinolenic acid ameliorates oleic acid-induced lipogenesis and oxidative stress via AMPK/SIRT1 signaling pathway in HepG2 cells

Pinolenic acid (PLA), a natural compound isolated from pine nut oil, has been reported to exert bioactivity against lipid anabolism. Nonetheless, the underlying mechanisms still poorly elucidated. The aim of this study is to comprehensively demonstrate the effects of PLA on oleic acid (OA)-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and their relationship with the lipid metabolic regulation. The results demonstrated that treatment with PLA dramatically inhibited lipid accumulation, oxidative stress as well as inflammatory responses induced by oleic acid in HepG2 cells. PLA also obviously decreased the levels of cellular triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), malondialdehyde (MDA),…

ABP1 Mediates Auxin Inhibition of Clathrin-Dependent Endocytosis in Arabidopsis

SummarySpatial distribution of the plant hormone auxin regulates multiple aspects of plant development. These self-regulating auxin gradients are established by the action of PIN auxin transporters, whose activity is regulated by their constitutive cycling between the plasma membrane and endosomes. Here, we show that auxin signaling by the auxin receptor AUXIN-BINDING PROTEIN 1 (ABP1) inhibits the clathrin-mediated internalization of PIN proteins. ABP1 acts as a positive factor in clathrin recruitment to the plasma membrane, thereby promoting endocytosis. Auxin binding to ABP1 interferes with this action and leads to the inhibition of clathrin-mediated endocytosis. Our study demonstrates th…

2′-O-Galloylhyperin Isolated From Pyrola incarnata Fisch. Attenuates LPS-Induced Inflammatory Response by Activation of SIRT1/Nrf2 and Inhibition of the NF-κB Pathways in Vitro and Vivo

2'-O-galloylhyperin, a major compound of Pyrola incarnata Fisch., possesses a variety of biological and pharmacological activities, including anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory activities. Nevertheless, the underlying molecular mechanisms of 2'-O-GH in microbial infection and sepsis are not clear. In this study, we investigated the anti-inflammatory effects of 2'-O-GH. We found that 2'-O-GH significantly reduced the production of TNF-α, IL-6, and nitric oxide (NO), suppressed the expression levels of iNOS, blocked the translocation of NF-κB from the cytosol to nucleus, and decreased the MAPK activation in LPS-activated RAW 264.7 cells. 2'-O-GH also enhanced the nuclear translocation of Nr…

Energy-Efficient Binary Power Control with Bit Error Rate Constraint in MIMO-OFDM Wireless Communication Systems

Motivated by the demand for energy efficiency improvement in mobile communication industry, we explore an idea of optimizing energy efficiency for MIMO-OFDM wireless communication systems while maintaining users' quality of service (QoS) requirement. Based on the binary power control scheme,a power allocation criterion for energy efficiency optimization is derived under the total power constraint. From a bit error rate (BER) point of view, a protection constraint is configured to guarantee the system QoS. With the aim of energy efficiency optimization under QoS guarantee in MIMO-OFDM wireless communication systems, an energy-efficient binary power control with BER constraint (EBPCB) algorith…

The New Models of Public Policy on Early Childhood Education and Care in Spain

Conceptualizing Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) as a right for all young children has gained legitimacy in Spain in recent years (Ancheta, 2008). In 2005, the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) stated that young children have specific needs for nurturing, care and guidance (CRC, 2005), and determined that early childhood education should be provided as the right of children to develop personalities, talents and mental and physical abilities from birth (United Nations General Assembly [UNGA], 2011).

NEXMIF encephalopathy: an X-linked disorder with male and female phenotypic patterns

Contains fulltext : 231688.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) PURPOSE: Pathogenic variants in the X-linked gene NEXMIF (previously KIAA2022) are associated with intellectual disability (ID), autism spectrum disorder, and epilepsy. We aimed to delineate the female and male phenotypic spectrum of NEXMIF encephalopathy. METHODS: Through an international collaboration, we analyzed the phenotypes and genotypes of 87 patients with NEXMIF encephalopathy. RESULTS: Sixty-three females and 24 males (46 new patients) with NEXMIF encephalopathy were studied, with 30 novel variants. Phenotypic features included developmental delay/ID in 86/87 (99%), seizures in 71/86 (83%) and multiple comorbidi…

2′O-galloylhyperin attenuates LPS-induced acute lung injury via up-regulation antioxidation and inhibition of inflammatory responses in vivo

2'O-galloylhyperin, an active flavonol glycoside compound with remarkable anti-immune activity, was isolated from Pyrola [P. incarnata Fisch.]. However, the evidence of anti-inflammatory activity in pulmonary diseases was still not convincing. The aim of the present study was (1) to investigate the effect of 2'O-galloylhyperin on LPS-induced acute lung injury in mice, and (2) to identify the mechanisms of attenuation of inflammatory responses. The results demonstrated that 2'O-galloylhyperin significantly reduced LPS-induced inflammation damage in a dose-dependent manner. After LPS challenge, treatment with 2'O-galloylhyperin reduced the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokin…

Overweight and obesity are associated with cardiac adverse structure remodeling in Chinese elderly with hypertension

AbstractThere is limited information on the association of overweight and obesity with cardiac remodeling in elderly population. Therefore, we investigated whether overweight and obesity are associated with cardiac geometric structures and function in Chinese elderly. A total of 1183 hospitalized patients (aged 65–99 years) with primary hypertension were collected retrospectively in a cross-sectional study, and divided into underweight, normal weight, overweight and obesity patient groups according to their body mass index (BMI). Cardiac echocardiographic parameters were compared between the groups. BMI was 17.2 ± 1.2, 21.4 ± 1.2, 25.1 ± 1.2, 30.2 ± 2.6 kg/m2 in underweight, normal weight, …
