PHA Latex Composite Films: Mechanical Properties and Surface Visualization
Homopolymer PHB and copolymer PHB/HV containing granules were isolated from Azotobacter chroococcum cells and used for latexes formation. Composite latex films were formed from the PHB and PHB/HV latexes with different content of poly (vinyl alcohol) and glycerol and a hydrophobic fluorescent benzanthrone derivated dye 3-piperidinobenzanthrone, possessed high fluorescence intensity in a system with PHA granules. Fluorescence based methods were used for characterization of the elaborated latex film by their stability at high temperature and for visualization of the film surfaces PHA granules distribution. Fluorescent substituted amidines of benzanthrone: synthesis, spectroscopy and quantum chemical calculations.
Abstract Several new substituted amidine derivatives of benzanthrone were synthesized by a condensation reaction from 3-aminobenzo[de]anthracen-7-one and appropriate aromatic and aliphatic amides. The obtained derivatives have a bright yellow or orange fluorescence in organic solvents and in solid state. The novel benzanthrone derivatives were characterized by TLC analysis, 1H NMR, IR, MS, UV/vis, and fluorescence spectroscopy. The solvent effect on photophysical behaviors of these dyes was investigated, and the results showed that the Stoke’s shift increased, whereas quantum yield decreased with the growth of the solvent polarity. Antioxidant therapy and its stability on Chernobyl clean-up workers
This paper describes the effects of prolonged antioxidant therapy, its stability and association with spectral parameters of the fluorescent probe ABM in blood plasma and indices of albumin auto-fluorescence in Chernobyl clean-up workers from Latvia. Patients were divided into two groups. Group 1 received placebos of identical appearance to antioxidants. Group 2 received antioxidants (vitamin E + selenium + ibuprofen). Individuals were tested three times: before supplementation of antioxidants, after therapy and one year after supplementation interruption.
