Differential proteomics reveals age-dependent liver oxidative costs of innate immune activation in mice

2016

Abstract Individual response to an immune challenge results from the optimization of a trade-off between benefits and costs of immune cell activation. Age-related immune disorders may have several mechanistic bases, from immune cell defects to chronic pro-inflammatory status and oxidative imbalance, but we are still lacking experimental data showing the relative importance of each of these mechanisms. Using a proteomic approach and subsequent biochemical validations of proteomics-derived hypotheses, we found age-dependent regulations in the liver of 3-months and 1-year old-mice in response to an acute innate immune activation. Old mice presented a chronic up-regulation of several proteins i…

Lanthanide complexation with CMPO and CMPO-calix[4]arenes in solution: spectrophotometric and electrospray mass spectrometric approaches.

2007

The binding of lanthanide(III) cations with organophosphorous ligands like CMPO and related calix[4]arene-based derivatives have been investigated using two experimental methods. The stability constants of the lanthanum, europium and ytterbium complexes were first determined in methanol by UV absorption spectrophotometry in the presence of nitrate or chloride anions. The results showed that the stoichiometry and the stability of the complexes formed depend on the position of the CMPO moieties either on the wide or the narrow rim of the calixarene scaffold, the nature of the medium, the conformational mobility of the ligands. Complexation of lanthanum was also followed by ESI-mass spectromet…

Self-Assembly, Characterisation, and Crystal Structure of Multinuclear Metal Complexes of the [2×3] and [3×3] Grid-Type

2002

The self-assembly of new multimetallic complexes of grid-type architecture is described. The binding of a set of tris-terdentate ligands, 1 a-1 d, based on terpyridine-like subunits, with different octahedrally coordinated metal ions leads to the formation of species whose structure depends strongly on the ligand, the metal ion, the counterion, the solvent, and the reaction conditions. Under suitable conditions, the [3 x 3] grid was obtained from the reaction of ligand 1 a with zinc tetrafluoroborate and from ligand 1 b with mercury triflate. The other ligands led to the formation of mainly one compound of composition [M(6)L(5)](12+), which has the structure of an incomplete [2 x 3] grid. T…
