Generation of global vegetation products from EUMETSAT AVHRR/METOP satellites

We describe the methodology applied for the retrieval of global LAI, FAPAR and FVC from Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) onboard the Meteorological-Operational (MetOp) polar orbiting satellites also known as EUMETSAT Polar System (EPS). A novel approach has been developed for the joint retrieval of three parameters (LAI, FVC, and FAPAR) instead of training one model per parameter. The method relies on multi-output Gaussian Processes Regression (GPR) trained over PROSAIL EPS simulations. Las similitudes entre el inframundo de la Eneida y el infierno de La Divina Comedia es un hecho casi incuestionable. La influencia de Virgilio en Dante es más que palpable en toda la obra del florentino. En este artículo nos centraremos en recopilar y demostrar dicho argumento centrándonos en los conceptos de inframundo e infierno y como Dante se sirve de la obra de Virgilio, entre otros, para diseñar el infierno de La Divina Comedia.

Abstract Estimation of Green Area Index (GAI) and fraction of Absorbed Photosynthetically Active Radiation (fAPAR) from decametric satellites was investigated in this study using a large database of ground measurements over croplands. It covers six main crop types including rice, corn, wheat and barley, sunflower, soybean and other types of crops. Ground measurements were completed using either digital hemispherical cameras, LAI-2000 or AccuPAR devices over sites representative of a decametric pixel. El mito de Beatrice Portinari sigue vivo hoy en día en todo el universo dantesco. Bice, como era llamada cariñosamente, con su sola presencia hechizó de tal modo a Dante, que se convirtió en su única musa. Desde que se publicó la Vita Nuova, muchos han sido los autores que la han ilustrado en sus pinturas, sin embargo, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, fue el pionero, y compartió con el florentino muchas vivencias personales, que le llevaron a entender mejor ese complejo mundo dantesco.

Son de sobra conocidas las adquisiciones por parte de Alfonso el Magnánimo de códices y obras de arte a lo largo de toda su vida y sobre todo a su llegada a Italia. De su biblioteca, lo único que tenemos actualmente es su desmembramiento entre las de París, San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Nápoles y Valencia. Sin embargo tuvo una época de esplendor que comenzó con el Magnánimo y prosiguió durante el reinado de su hijo Ferrante y sus nietos. La Commedia de Dante fue uno de los principales libros en su biblioteca junto con otros manuscritos latinos. (A)

La tesis titulada La imagen de Beatrice Portinari en la obra de Dante y su reflejo en el arte, trata de realizar un estado de la cuestión de las representaciones artísticas sobre la figura de la musa de. Pero para poder centrarme en el periodo comprendido entre 1800 y 1921 ha sido necesario realizar un estado de la cuestión hasta alcanzar el siglo XIX para poder situar al lector de la importancia de resaltar este siglo en la representación artística de Beatrice Portinari. Fue precisamente en este periodo cuando nació una verdadera tradición representativa de la musa de Dante que se mantiene hasta nuestros días. The scientific community requires long-term data records with well-characterized uncertainty and suitable for modeling terrestrial ecosystems and energy cycles at regional and global scales. This paper presents the methodology currently developed in EUMETSAT within its Satellite Application Facility for Land Surface Analysis (LSA SAF) to generate biophysical variables from the Spinning Enhanced Visible and InfraRed Imager (SEVIRI) on board MSG 1-4 (Meteosat 8-11) geostationary satellites.
