Master's thesis in Political science and management (ME502) The goal of this study was to look at the relationship between autonomy in the shape of self-governance in the workplace and sickness absence andthe research question for this thesis states “Is there a relationship between autonomy and sickness absence”. A systematic literature review was conducted to examine what previous research had found about this relationship and this was to be compared to the findings made from a questionnaire at a Norwegian hospital.
