Gabriel Alomar va publicar nombrosos articles al periòdic El Día. Alguns d’aquests escrits parlaven sobre obres literàries i sobre escriptors catalans, espanyols i europeus (Jacint Verdaguer, Santiago Rusiñol, Joan Maragall, Joan Alcover; Cervantes, Fray Luis de León, Moratín, Ramón Pérez de Ayala, Vicente Blasco Ibáñez; Ibsen, Anatole France, Gide, Voltaire, Mistral, Renan, Tolstoi...). Alomar no pretén emetre judicis estètics amb la finalitat d’orientar l’escriptor i el públic, sinó analitzar determinades idees o conceptes, per la qual cosa també comenta llibres d’història i assaigs. The article focuses upon the analysis of the treatment of the topic of the Civil War in the novel «Panorama amb dona» (1983) by Miquel Àngel Riera. The search of the culprit of the death of the protagonist’s husband becomes the reason that allows the discovery of the implication of diverse sectors of the people in the facist repression, from the popular classes to the aristocracy and even the Church, and to portray the mechanisms on which the exercise of the power is based.
