Determinants of high-grade anal intraepithelial lesions in HIV-positive men having sex with men
Background Identifying determinants for histologically proven high-grade anal intraepithelial lesions (hHSIL) in HIV-positive MSM would allow better targeted screening. Methods APACHES is a prospective study of anal HPV and related-lesions in 513 HIV-positive MSM aged ≥35 in six clinics across France. At baseline, participants underwent high resolution anoscopy (HRA) with biopsy of suspicious lesions, preceded by anal swabs for liquid-based cytology, p16/Ki67 immunostaining, and HPV DNA. hHSIL diagnosis was established by histopathological review panel consensus, and determinants assessed by logistic regression. Results Baseline hHSIL prevalence was 10.4% and did not differ significantly by…
What is the optimal treatment for T1N0 anal squamous cell carcinoma? Analysis of current practices in the prospective French FFCD ANABASE cohort
International audience; Introduction: for localized T1N0 squamous cell carcinoma of the anus (SCCA) standard radiotherapy (RT) may result in overtreatment and alternative strategies are debated. Methods: T1N0M0 SCCA treated between 2015 and 2020 by local excision (LE) or RT were analyzed from the French prospective FFCD ANABASE cohort. Treatment strategies, recurrence-free and colostomy-free survivals (RFS, CFS) and prognostic factors were reported. Results: among 1135 SCCA patients, 99 T1N0M0 were treated by LE(n = 17,17.2%), or RT ( n = 82,82.8%) including RT alone ( n = 65,79.2%) or chemo-RT ( n = 17, 20.7%). Median follow-up was 27.2 months [0.03 and ndash;54.44]. Median tumor size were…
Prevalence and Risk Factors for Anal Human Papillomavirus Infection in Human Immunodeficiency Virus–Positive Men Who Have Sex with Men

At baseline, participants underwent anal swabs for HPV and cytology, plus high-resolution anoscopy. High-risk HPV (HR-HPV) was tested by Cobas4800, with genotyping of HR-HPV positiv…
Determinants of high-grade anal intraepithelial lesions in HIV-positive MSM.
Objective - To assess determinants for histologically proven high-grade anal intraepithelial lesions (hHSIL) in HIV-positive men who have sex with men (MSM), a population at high-risk of HPV-related anal cancer. Methods - At baseline, participants underwent high-resolution anoscopy (HRA) with biopsy of suspicious lesions, preceded by anal swabs for liquid-based cytology, p16/Ki67 immunostaining, and HPV DNA. hHSIL diagnosis was established by histopathological review panel consensus, and determinants assessed by logistic regression.
