Carmelo Giummo, born in Catania in 1953, lives in Augusta where he teaches English Literature at the local Classical High School. His first collection of poems, Graffi (Scratches), dates back to 1990. Dieci donne (Ten Women, 1996) and Nove haiku senza primavera (Nine Haikus without Spring, 2007) follow. Doppia traccia (Double track, 2009) and Alle mie scarpe (To My shoes, 2012) more and more manifestly define the leitmotiv of travel as the pivotal experience of his poetic writing. Giummo has published lyrics on anthologies and magazines and has participated in national and international literary and artistic events.
