Experimental Textual-learning Activities for an L2 Italian Initial-literacy Classroom
2019
The paper describes some specific textual learning activities developed for an L2 Italian initial literacy classroom and, in particular, for illiterate multilinguals (mostly unaccompanied foreign minors). The activities belong to an experimental proposal. It consists of a specific textual teaching module integrated with a second-language initial literacy course. The aim was to get the learner immediately accustomed to some types of text, that have been chosen to be suitable for his profile and his needs, as well as perfectly integrated with the contexts and vocabulary proposed in the classroom. Because of the minimum level, the texts were mostly discontinuous. Based on the importance of lea…
Reaching an Endpoint: Verbal Root Telicity and Motion Event Encoding in Homeric Greek
2020
Contrastive Analysis of the Interlanguages of Unaccompanied Foreign Minors Learning L2 Italian
2019
This paper proposes a contrastive analysis of the interlanguage of L2 Italian learners belonging to the category of “unaccompanied foreign minorsˮ, with the same L1 but different levels of education. The profile of unaccompanied foreign minors is complex and sociolinguistically very peculiar, since it is characterized by the frequent coexistence of a plurilingual ability and a (very) low, or zero, level of education. The study is based on oral productions collected through video interviews and studied with the support of conversation analysis. Focusing on the acquisition of verb inflectional morphology, the comparison of learners’ varieties aims to show to what extent several differences de…
Sul suppletivismo verbale in Omero: l’apporto della prospettiva tipologica talmiana
2020
This paper aims at investigating the partially uncertain relationship on which the suppletion of the Homeric verbal forms within the paradigm for ‘go’ is based. For this purpose, the Homeric distribution of some motion verbs for ‘go’, as well as their contexts of use, are taken into account. In the light of Talmy’s theoretical framework of the lexicalization patterns, the analysis focuses on the motion events expressed by ἔρχομαι and ἦλϑον (fut. ἐλεύσομαι, pf. εἰλήλουϑα) and their cooccurring spatial elements, i.e. particles, adverbs, nominal case markers, which encode the path followed by the moving object. Building on telicity as a verb-inherent actional feature (i.e. Lexical Aspect), and…
