Control of an open-end winding induction machine via a two-output indirect matrix converter
In this paper an Indirect Matrix Converter (IMC) with two output stages feeding an open-end winding induction machine is presented. The IMC has the advantage of having nobulky energy storage elements and with the two output stages up to 1.5 times the input phase voltage can be obtained across the windings of the machine, without overmodulation. A vector control scheme for the machine currents is used along with a modulation strategy for the converter two-output stages to reduce the common mode voltage and compensate the phase zero sequence currents. Simulation results showing the performance of the controlscheme and the reduction of zero sequence and common mode voltages are presented and d…
Analytical and experimental evaluation of a WECS based on a Doubly Fed Induction Generator fed by a matrix converter
In this paper the control of a grid-connected Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS), based on a sensorless vector controlled Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) fed by a matrix converter, is presented. The matrix converter is controlled using a space vector modulation algorithm. Stability issues related to the operation of the WECS connected to the grid using a matrix converter are also discussed in this work. The influence of a synchronous rotating filter in the dynamic of the proposed WECS is analysed. A Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) observer for sensorless control of the proposed WECS is used in this work. Using the speed estimated by the MRAS observer the electrical torque of …
A topology for multiple generation system with doubly fed induction machines and indirect matrix converter.
In this paper, a new topology for a grid connected generation system based on two double fed induction generators is presented The scheme uses an indirect matrix converter consisting on an input rectifier, a three-to-two matrix converter which provides a DC voltage, and two voltage fed output converters. The input converter is connected to the grid and each of the output converters is connected to the rotor of the corresponding machine. The rotor currents of each generator are vector controlled and unity power factor operation at the indirect matrix converter input is considered. The duty cycles for the input converter are chosen in order to obtain maximum DC link voltage. The duty cycles f…
