Masteroppgave matematikkdidaktikk MA502 – Universitetet i Agder 2019 This is a study of two classes —with their teachers and pupils —on 7. and 10. grade and their use of conversations in mathematics teaching. The survey shows the relationship between the teacher's methods in managing the conversation in mathematics teaching and student’s involvement in mathematics. Emphasis has been placed on how control over the outcome of the conversation is distributed between the teacher and the pupils in the respective classes and how the teacher positions themselves to distribute this control.
