The article deals with research carried out at the Institute for Educational Research during the last ten years and compares it with other educational research undertaken in Finland in the 1970's. A systematic study of educational research was initiated by Professor O.K. Kyostio in the 1970's. Approximately one half of the financial resources of the Institute is received from educational authorities and the other half from the University of Jyvaskyla.
