Theory of Mind (ToM) and language: stimulating metalinguistic skills in people with dementia

ABSTRACT Purpose The purpose of this paper was to assess the use of the Metalinguistic Skills Stimulation Program in Theory of Mind (ToM) in people with dementia. Methods An experimental research design was developed. Forty-two subjects, 28 women and 14 men, aged 61 to 87 participated in the study. The three following groups were created: Experimental Group and Control Group - both composed of people with dementia, and Normal Group - consisting of people without dementia or any medical and psychological disorders that keep them from living a normal life. Lingüística en contextos clínicos: la lingüística clínica

El presente artículo aborda la descripción del ámbito de la lingüística clínica. Con este fin las autoras analizan el concepto de esta disciplina, la producción en investigación desarrollada en la última década en diferentes países americanos y europeos, las publicaciones en el área, los modelos teóricos que han sustentado el estudio y el concepto de déficit lingüístico. Con respecto al primer aspecto se concluye que la lingüística clínica cubre sobre todo la aplicación de la lingüística al campo de las patologías del lenguaje, y su manifestación profesional más directa es, obviamente, la logopedia, terapia del lenguaje o fonoaudiología.
