Port-site hernia following laparoscopic cholecystectomy: personal experience and literature review
Background The purpose of our study is to define the real incidence of port-site hernias (PSH) following laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) through a long-term follow-up and to evaluate the significance of several technical and patient-related factors. Materials and Methods A total of 513 consecutive patients who underwent LC at Section of General and Thoracic Surgery of the University Hospital of Palermo in the period between January 2008 and January 2012 were retrospectively examined.
