Master's thesis in Specialized nursing (ME519) Background: The purpose of this paper was to investigate the effect of local anesthesia with lidocaine via a “needle-free” device, given prior to intravenous cannulation in pediatric patients, compared to lidocaine cream (Emla®). This study also examined the application time for the effect of needle-free lidocaine, compared to lidocaine cream. The success of cannulation was also examined.
