Design and Development of a Labview Application for the Measurement of the Complex Impedance of a Fuel Cell in Real Time

International audience; To optimize the performance of fuel cells and to deepen the knowledge of their behavior, it is necessary to make measurements in real time. To run such a measure, it is necessary to use specific software and hardware tools to instrumentation fuel cells. In this context, we presented the steps of designing and developing an application for the measurement of the complex impedance by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy method (EIS) using LabVIEW® software. The experimental results are obtained using a Ballard Nexa® PEM fuel cell, an electronic load produced in our laboratory and application developed by the LabVIEW® software.

In this work, we present a new technical method for identifying the complex impedance model parameters of a Proton Exchange Membrane (pEM) Fuel Cell for on-board diagnosis in real time. The study of the PEM Fuel Cell modelling is important in order to understand the physical phenomena that occurring in this green renewable energy source. A diagnosis method is presented by analyzing the behavior of the complex impedance. We present in this paper the study and the design of a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) for an embedded system to diagnose the PEM fuel cell. Some problems related to fuel cells used in the electric vehicle field are the management of its efficiency and the lifetime of its membranes. To do this, the diagnosis using measuring the complex impedance is an important phase.
