Social Work in Italy has been tackling the internal migration phenomenon since the post-WW II period, when more than 1,300,000 Italian citizens from poor southern regions, where employment was scarce, moved to the center and to the industrialized north of Italy (Simone 2016). Since then, and as early as the late 1980s, social workers have had to deal with flows of migrants and refugees from other countries. Migrations in Tanzania between the XIX and XX centuries: Social aspects and characteristics
The salient features of Tanzanian migration are depicted through an overview of the national history. It appears that there are major differences, also in comparison with other developing countries. There are little migratory flows towards the Western world; however, internal displacement is a prominent phenomenon, as a consequence of internal political turmoil in the country. L’approdo e la presenza dei minori stranieri non accompagnati (da qui MSNA) nel territorio italiano continua a sollecitare una profonda riflessione sugli strumenti utilizzati per la loro formazione di base e professionale. Frequentare la scuola per i MSNA significa, di fatto, avere accesso ad una esperienza indispensabile per il successivo percorso di inclusione, formale e informale.
