The project, centered on the regionof Nolay (south of the Côte-d'Or), aims tostudy, over the long term (from the end of the18th century to 1914), a society that lived at therhythm imposed by a dominant activity,viticulture. This society was not autarkic butlived in interaction with national events, whichto a large extent determined its evolution. Wewill begin with an inventory of the situation onthe eve of the Revolution, highlighting thedualistic character of the wine economy and theeconomic, social and political rigidities itfaced.
