Ageing and leadership has been widely discussed from the point of view of normative management research. This study addresses a subjective and retrospective view of ageing and leadership. It identifies how senior managers make sense of their career choices, critical incidents and the ageing process. The research will further develop the theme and discuss the biographies, latter career experiences and the future aims of ageing leaders using a critical qualitative and narrative approach.The study follows eight managers in diverse organisational contexts, all of whom have reached the age of fifty-five or over.
