The presented article is an attempt to reconstruct/retrospect my professional biography in its methodological section. It is a description of the way I went to become a biographic, narrative scholar. It is also a description of the reasons – theories, concepts, discussions and disputes that accompanied me on the way. I present my critical attitude towards Polish school and Polish education, posing questions about education, school and teacher. W artykule przyglądam się przeszkodom i sprzecznościom, które wynikają ze zmienności naszej rzeczywistości i z jednej strony są charakterystyczne dla czasów, w których żyjemy – dlatego są nieredukowalne – a z drugiej utrudniają lub nawet uniemożliwiają ludziom tworzenie satysfakcjonujących związków intymnych. Traktowane jako opresyjne i niesprawiedliwe nierówności w związku, konieczność kompromisu przy dominacji różnych odmian indywidualizmu i koncentracji na „ja” czy negocjacyjny charakter relacji komplikują budowanie szczęśliwych związków oraz tak ważną w nich intymności.

The most important task facing an individual is the work on their own identity – it is a manifestation of self-realization and freedom of a modern man. Recognition as an intersubjective relationship between people is a condition of our identity. A community based on recognition relationships is an alternative to a neo-liberal social concept. In the article, I present two currently co-functioning diagnoses of Polish modernity. One is separatist, emphasizing the division, without hope of consent – a vision of two conflicted tribes, differing in their attitude to the past and history. The second vision assumes the possibility of communication, pointing to the relational character of the current conflict, which is based on the need for recognition. Remembrance is not a dividing instrument here, but a common good and value, and the chance for communication is the relationship of recognition.
