Highly Ordered Nanoporous Thin Films from Photocleavable Block Copolymers
Poly(styrene-block-ethylene oxide) with an o-nitrobenzyl ester photocleavable junction (PS-hν-PEO) was synthesized by a combined RAFT polymerization and “click chemistry“ approach and represents the first report utilizing this method for the synthesis of photocleavable block copolymers. After solvent annealing, highly ordered thin films were prepared from PS-hν-PEO. Following a very mild UV exposure and successive washing with water, PS-hν-PEO thin films were transformed into highly ordered nanoporous thin PS films with pore diameters of 15–20 nm and long range ordering (over 2 μm × 2 μm). Afterwards the pores were filled with PDMS by spin-coating in combination with capillary forces. After…
Agent-based model for the rescheduling of Individual and collective daily activities under uncertainties
Daily activity schedule are popular for people duringdaily life. While, when executing the schedule on the real road network, there are always some disruptions disturbing the planned schedule. To deal with this problem, daily activity rescheduling is necessary. This thesis regards the disruptions from the activity schedule execution environment as unexpected events (uncertainties). It establishes agent-based models to simulate the activity rescheduling decision process from the aspects of individual activity rescheduling and joint trip renegotiating. For the individual activity rescheduling, the model in this thesis wants to explore the relationship between a pair of episodes (two connected …
Transition of laser-induced terahertz spin currents from torque- to conduction-electron-mediated transport
Spin transport is crucial for future spintronic devices operating at bandwidths up to the terahertz range. In F|N thin-film stacks made of a ferromagnetic/ferrimagnetic layer F and a normal-metal layer N, spin transport is mediated by (1) spin-polarized conduction electrons and/or (2) torque between electron spins. To identify a crossover from (1) to (2), we study laser-driven spin currents in F|Pt stacks where F consists of model materials with different degrees of electrical conductivity. For the magnetic insulators yttrium iron garnet, gadolinium iron garnet (GIG) and γ−Fe2O3, identical dynamics is observed. It arises from the terahertz interfacial spin Seebeck effect (SSE), is fully det…
Navigating Turbulent Political Waters: From Corporate Political Advocacy to Scansis in the Case of NBA-China Crisis
Drawing on insights from both rhetorical arena theory and contingency theory of conflict management, this study examines the role of political factors in shaping stakeholder groups’ perceptions and organizational responses and stances in a scansis of a multinational corporation. This study combined qualitative content analysis and semantic network analysis to analyze organizational responses, news coverage, and social media posts regarding the National Basketball Association (NBA)–China crisis in 2019, triggered by an online comment from a team executive supporting the Hong Kong protesters. The findings show (1) the presence of diverse and rich political-laden and politically divided discus…
