Renal dysfunction is an independent predictor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. We investigated whether chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and the related insulin resistance/hyperinsulinemia influence renal function in comparison with a group of healthy subjects and with another group with metabolic syndrome. We enrolled 130 newly diagnosed HCV outpatients matched for age and gender with 130 patients with metabolic syndrome and 130 healthy subjects. Granulomatous slack skin: report of a case associated with Hodgkin's disease and a review of the literature.

We report a case of granulomatous slack skin (GSS) associated with Hodgkin's disease, and review the literature on this entity. GSS, a variant of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, clinically presents with erythematous patches in the flexures, which gradually transform into bulky, pendulous areas of skin. Histology shows an elastolytic granulomatous infiltrate, with atypical lymphoid cells, and occasional epidermotropism. As far as we are aware, 10 cases of GSS, including our patient, have been reported in detail. The male:female ratio of these cases is 9:1, and the age range 15-51 years. Objectives Few studies have analyzed factors associated with delirium subtypes. In this study, we investigate factors associated with subtypes of delirium only in patients with dementia to provide insights on the possible prevention and treatments. Design This is a cross-sectional study nested in the "Delirium Day" study, a nationwide Italian point-prevalence study. Setting and participants Older patients admitted to 205 acute and 92 rehabilitation hospital wards.
