Abstract The link between obesity and a wide range of cardiovascular disorders is well known.(1,2) In recent years, the prevalence of obesity has reached an alarming level.(3) Unfortunately, the situation is similar for the paediatric population – which may provide a perspective on the continuously growing global burden of this affliction.(4) Acting upon this issue is a fundamental direction in modern preventive medicine. A firm action starting in childhood may prove itself to be more beneficial the sooner it is implemented.
