Flavor violation in supersymmetric SU(5) GUT at large tan beta

2001

We study flavor violation in the general SUSY SU(5) GUT assuming all the third generation Yukawa couplings to be due to the renormalizable physics above GUT scale. At large tan beta, as suggested by Yukawa unification in SU(5), sizable flavor violation in the left (right) slepton (down squark) sector can be induced in nonminimal models due to renormalization effects of down type Yukawa couplings between GUT and Planck scales, in addition to the flavor violation in the right slepton sector. The new flavor physics contribution to K-(K) over bar, B-(B) over bar mixing is small but might be of phenomenological interest in the case of b --> s gamma. The sign of the latter contribution is the sam…

Discovering and Studying Bileptons with e-e- Collisions

1997

We analyze the prospects for discovering and unraveling the nature of doubly-charged bileptons at a linear collider of the next generation running in its electron-electron colliding mode. We stress the importance of initial state radiation, beam spread and polarization, and compute the discovery bounds. The gauge nature of vector bileptons can be determined by studying hard photon emission.

CPasymmetries inBsdecays and spontaneousCPviolation

1999

We study the possible effects of new physics in $\mathrm{CP}$ asymmetries in two-body ${B}_{s}$ decays in left-right models with spontaneous $\mathrm{CP}$ violation. Considering the contributions of new $\mathrm{CP}$ phases to the ${B}_{s}$ mixing as well as to the penguin-dominated decay amplitudes we show that, with the present constraints, large deviations from the standard model predictions in $\mathrm{CP}$ asymmetries are allowed in both cases. The detection of new physics can be achieved by measuring nonzero asymmetries which are predicted to vanish in the standard model or by comparing two measurements which are predicted to be equal in the standard model. In particular, we show that…

New constraints on R-parity violation from μ–e conversion in nuclei

1998

We derive new constraints on the products of explicitly R-parity violating couplings $\lambda$ and $\lambda'$ in MSSM from searches for \mu-e conversion in nuclei. We concentrate on the loop induced photonic coherent conversion mode. For the combinations $|\lambda\lambda|$ which in \mu-e conversion can be probed only at loop level our constraints are in many cases more stringent than the previous ones due to the enhancement of the process by large $\ln(m^2_f/m^2_{\tilde f}).$ For the combinations of $|\lambda'\lambda'|$ the tree-level \mu-e conversion constraints are usually more restrictive than the loop ones except for two cases which involve the third generation. With the expected improv…

Constraints on doubly charged Higgs interactions at linear collider

1996

Production of a single doubly charged Higgs boson $Delta^{--}$ in polarized $e^+e^-$ and $e^+\gamma$ collision modes of the linear collider have been investigated. The mass range of $Delta^{--}$ to be probed extends up to the collision energy. The diagonal lepton number violating Yukawa coupling $h_{ee}$ will be tested at least three orders of magnitude more strictly than in present experiments.

Higgs Sector of the Minimal Left-Right Symmetric Model

2001

We perform an exhaustive analysis of the most general Higgs sector of the minimal left-right symmetric model (MLRM). We find that the CP properties of the vacuum state are connected to the Higgs spectrum: if CP is broken spontaneously, the MLRM does not approach the Standard Model in the limit of a decoupling left-right symmetry breaking scale. Depending on the size of the CP phases scenarios with extra non-decoupling flavor-violating doublet Higgses or very light SU(2) triplet Higgses emerge, both of which are ruled out by phenomenology. For zero CP phases the non-standard Higgses decouple only if a very unnatural fine-tuning condition is fulfilled. We also discuss generalizations to a non…

Doubly charged Higgs at LHC

1996

We have investigated production of doubly charged Higgs particles $\Delta_{L,R}^{++}$ via WW fusion process in proton-proton collisions at LHC energies in the framework of the left-right symmetric model. The production cross section of the right-triplet Higgs is for representative values of model parameters at femtobarn level. The discovery reach depends on the mass of the right-handed gauge boson W_R. At best $\Delta_R^{++}$ mass up to 2.4 TeV are achievable within one year run. For $\Delta^{++}_L$ the corresponding limit is 1.75 TeV which depends on the value of the left-triplet vev v_L. Comparison with Drell-Yan pair production processes shows that studies of the WW fusion processes exte…

Spontaneous CP violation and the B0 system

1998

We investigate effects of spontaneous breakdown of CP in $B^0_{d,s}-\overline{B^0}_{d,s}$ systems in left-right symmetric models. Assuming that the left-right contribution to the $B^0-\overline{B^0}$ matrix element $M_{12}$ can be at most equal to the standard model one we obtain a new lower bound, $M_H\gsim 12$ TeV, on the flavour changing Higgs boson mass. Most importantly, the convention independent parameter $Re(\overline{\epsilon}_B),$ which measures the amount of $\Delta B=2$ CP violation, can be enhanced by a factor of four or more for $B^0_d$ and almost by two orders of magnitude for $B^0_s$ systems when compared with the Standard Model predictions. Therefore, interesting possibilit…

Heavy neutrino mixing and single production at linear collider

1997

We study the single production of heavy neutrinos via the processes $e^-e^+ \to \nu N$ and $e^-\gamma \to W^- N$ at future linear colliders. As a base of our considerations we take a wide class of models, both with vanishing and non-vanishing left-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrix $m_L$. We perform a model independent analyses of the existing experimental data and find connections between the characteristic of heavy neutrinos (masses, mixings, CP eigenvalues) and the $m_L$ parameters. We show that with the present experimental constraints heavy neutrino masses almost up to the collision energy can be tested in the future experiments.

Spontaneous CP violation in the left-right model and the kaon system

1996

A left-right model with spontaneous $CP$ breakdown, consistent with the particle physics phenomenology, is presented. Constraints on free parameters of the model: mass of the new right handed gauge boson $M_2$ and ratio $r$ of the two vacuum expectation values of the bidoublet, are found from the measurement of $\epsilon$ in the kaon system. For most of the parameter space, $M_2$ is restricted to be below 10 TeV. Higher masses can be achieved only by fine tuning of Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements, quark masses, $r$ and the phase $\alpha$ which is the unique source of $CP$-violation in the model. Large number of combinations of signs of quark masses, which are observables of the model, are…

Constraints on theWRmass andCPviolation in left-right models

1997

We update the constraints on the right-handed W{sub R} gauge boson mass, mixing angle {zeta} with the left-handed W{sub L} gauge boson, and other parameters in general left-right symmetric models with different mechanisms of CP violation. Constraints mostly independent of any assumption on the quark sector are obtained from a reanalysis of muon decay data. The best {chi}{sup 2} fit of the data gives g{sub R}/g{sub L}=0.94{plus_minus}0.09 for the ratio of right to left gauge couplings, with M{sub W{sub R}}{ge}485 GeV and {vert_bar}{zeta}{vert_bar}{le}0.0327. Fixing g{sub L}=g{sub R} (in particular for manifestly left-right symmetric models), we obtain M{sub W{sub R}}{approx_gt}549 GeV and {v…

Higgs-like spectator field as the origin of structure

2021

We show that the observed primordial perturbations can be entirely sourced by a light spectator scalar field with a quartic potential, akin to the Higgs boson, provided that the field is sufficiently displaced from vacuum during inflation. The framework relies on the indirect modulation of reheating, which is implemented without any direct coupling between the spectator field and the inflaton and does not require non-renormalisable interactions. The scenario gives rise to local non-Gaussianity with $f_{\rm NL}\simeq 5$ as the typical signal. As an example model where the indirect modulation mechanism is realised for the Higgs boson, we study the Standard Model extended with right-handed neu…

Novel mechanism for primordial perturbations in minimal extensions of the Standard Model

2020

Abstract We demonstrate that light spectator fields in their equilibrium can source sizeable CMB anisotropies through modulated reheating even in the absence of direct couplings to the inflaton. The effect arises when the phase space of the inflaton decay is modulated by the spectator which generates masses for the decay products. We call the mechanism indirect modulation and using the stochastic eigenvalue expansion show that it can source perturbations even four orders of magnitude larger than the observed amplitude. Importantly, the indirect mechanism is present in the Standard Model extended with right- handed neutrinos. For a minimally coupled Higgs boson this leads to a novel lower bo…

Non-decoupling and lepton number violation in left-right models

1996

We argue that large non-decoupling effects of heavy neutrinos can appear naturally in manifestly left-right symmetric models due to the minimization conditions of the scalar potential and the structure of vev's imposed by phenomenology. We derive constraints on off-diagonal light-heavy and heavy-heavy neutrino mixings from the searches for lepton violating decays $\mu\rightarrow e\gamma,$ $\mu\rightarrow e e^-e^+$ and $\mu-e$ conversion in nuclei. The most stringent limits come from the latter process because its amplitude shows a quadratic non-decoupling dependence on the heavy neutrino mass. Due to the suppression of right-handed currents by large $W_R$ mass the present experiments are no…

Bileptons - Present Constraints and Future Prospects at Colliders

1997

Bosons which couple to two leptons and carry lepton number L=2, generically called bileptons, appear in many extensions of the standard model. We review the present constraints on bilepton parameters coming from low and high energy data. In particular, we point out that the amplitude of $\mu-e$ conversion in nuclei is enhanced by large logarithms if compared with the $\mu\to e\gamma$ one. Bilepton couplings will be tested most stringently at future colliders. For wide range of neutrino masses the cross section of one of the processes $e^-e^- (\mu^-\mu^-)\to \ell_i^-\ell_i^-,$ $i=e,\mu, \tau,$ mediated by scalar triplet bilepton, has such a lower bound that it should be observed at future fa…

Constraints on the W-R mass and CP violation in left-right models

1997

We update the constraints on the right-handed WR gauge boson mass, mixing angle ζ with the left-handed WL gauge boson, and other parameters in general left-right symmetric models with different mechanisms of CP violation. Constraints mostly independent of any assumption on the quark sector are obtained from a re-analysis of muon decay data. Estimates of the left-right hadronic matrix elements in the neutral kaon system and their uncertainties are revised using large Nc and Chiral Perturbation Theory arguments. With explicitly given assumptions on the long-distance (ΔS=1)2 contributions to the KL−KS mass difference, lower bounds on MWR are obtained. With the same assumptions, one also gets s…
