PurposeAtherosclerotic plaque vulnerability is a systemic phenomenon and is often associated with severe plaque infiltration with inflammatory cells. 18-Fluoro-deoxyglucose (FDG) accumulates in inflammatory cells of atherosclerotic plaques.
