Master´s thesis in Advanced Teacher Education This master thesis is a study of the function of fantastic literature, literary complexity, and didactic potential in two novels written by Jostein Gaarder. I have conducted a comparative analysis of the artistic breakthrough novel Kabalmysteriet(1990) and the author ́s last novel Anna: en fabel om klodens klima og miljø(2013). The subject renewal from 2020 has led to major upheavals in the Norwegian school, including the subject Norwegian and the students ́ encounter with fiction.
