ABSTRACT: The first Marquis of Palmerola, Francesc Xavier Despujol, remodelled his family residence in 1784, which included a large hall decorated with a pictorial program painted by Pere Pau Montana. These historical paintings depicted episodes of war and peace, related to the family history of the owners, in order to show the importance and roots of their lineage, highlighting their illustrious role in their country’s history and commerce.
