Duality violations in τ hadronic spectral moments

2010

Evidence is presented for the necessity of including duality violations in a consistent description of spectral function moments employed in the precision determination of $\alpha_s$ from $\tau$ decay. A physically motivated ansatz for duality violations in the spectral functions enables us to perform fits to spectral moments employing both pinched and unpinched weights. We describe our analysis strategy and provide some preliminary findings. Final numerical results await completion of an ongoing re-determination of the ALEPH covariance matrices incorporating correlations due to the unfolding procedure which are absent from the currently posted versions. To what extent this issue affects ex…

The anomalous magnetic moment of the muon in the Standard Model

2020

We are very grateful to the Fermilab Directorate and the Fermilab Theoretical Physics Department for their financial and logistical support of the first workshop of the Muon g -2 Theory Initiative (held near Fermilab in June 2017) [123], which was crucial for its success, and indeed for the successful start of the Initiative. Financial support for this workshop was also provided by the Fermilab Distinguished Scholars program, the Universities Research Association through a URA Visiting Scholar award, the Riken Brookhaven Research Center, and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science under Grant No. KAKEHNHI-17H02906. We thank Shoji Hashimoto, Toru Iijima, Takashi Kaneko, and Shohei Nis…

Duality violations in hadronic tau decays and the value of alpha_s

2011

We discuss the quantitative impact of duality violations on the determination of the strong coupling constant from hadronic tau decays, based on a preliminary analysis of OPAL data.

An effective field theory approach to the QCD corrections to the large-mt Zbb vertex

1995

Using effective field theory techniques we discuss the QCD corrections to the large-mt contributions to the process Z → bb. In particular we obtain the αs correction to the non-universal log mt contribution to the Zbb vertex.

An effective field theory approach to the QCD corrections to the large-$m_t$ $Zb\bar b$ vertex

1995

Using effective field theory techniques we discuss the QCD corrections to the large-$m_t$ contributions to the process $Z\rightarrow b \bar b$. In particular we obtain the $\a$ correction to the non-universal $\log m_t$ contribution to the $Zb\bar b$ vertex.
