Abstract Introduction Inflammation plays a crucial role in many aspects of cardiovascular disease. Particularly, acquired mutations of hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) leading to clonal expansion of inflammatory cells (CHIP) are increased with age and are associated with an enhanced risk of cardiovascular disease.
