Metal Atom Synthesis, Properties, and Structure of μ2(η3,η3-Toluene)bis[(η6-toluene)iron](Fe-Fe) Metal atom cocondensation of iron atoms and toluene produces the mononuclear iron sandwich compound [(η6-toluene)(η4-toluene)Fe] 1. Complex 1 reacts with a palette of N-containing ligands such as primary, secondary, and tertiary amines as well as pyridine, pyrrolidine, and tmeda to form highly reactive instable intermediates. In the temperature range from -80 to -30°C, the proposed intermediates react with toluene to form the first homoleptic Fe/toluene complex μ2-(η3η3-toluene)-bis[(η6-toluene)iron](Fe-Fe) (3) regardless which N-containing ligand is used. Synthesis and Structural Characterization of a Cyclen-Derived Molecular Cage

Reaction of a tetrafunctionalized cyclen derivative containing four aldehyde groups with an appropriate diamine followed by reduction and demetalation highly efficiently affords a bis(cyclen)-derived molecular cage. Potentiometric investigations show that this compound forms dimetallic complexes with copper(II), with the two metal ions selectively coordinated to the cyclen units. X-ray crystallography indicates that these complexes could give rise to new cascade complexes after incorporation of anions between the metal centers.

The plastic crystalline A15 phase of dimethylaminoalane, [N(CH3)2–AlH2]3

A plastic crystalline phase of dimethylaminoalane has been discovered at T > 332 K. The phase transitions solid - plastic phase - liquid are fully reversible. The plastic crystalline phase exhibits a cubic unit cell, space group Pm3[combining macron]n, in which the dimethylaminoalane molecules rotate and adopt a structural arrangement reminiscent of the A15 phase.

Palladium(II)-Stabilized Pyridine-2-Diazotates: Synthesis, Structural Characterization, and Cytotoxicity Studies

Well-defined diazotates are scarce. Here we report the synthesis of unprecedented homoleptic palladium(II) diazotate complexes. The palladium(II)-mediated nitrosylation of 2-aminopyridines with NaNO2 results in the formation of metal-stabilized diazotates, which were found to be cytotoxic to human ovarian cancer cells.
