Scheda XLV San Francesco da Paola al cospetto di Papa Sisto IV
The two large oil paintings on canvas depicting stories of the hagiography of the Saint of Paola, that are in the chapel to him dedicated in the Palermo church of the Order dei Minimi (Saint Francis from Paola in the presence of Pope Sixtus IV and Saint Francis from Paola baptizes the son of Charles VIII of France), are probably to be reported to Alessandro D'Anna (1746-1815 ca.)
Amuleti scursuna in corallo
Some amulets in the shape of sea animals/monsters, called scursuna, have received little attention in scientific studies of the coral red works of the Trapani craftsmen of the late 18th and 19th centuries. These are not only fascinating artefacts because of the curiosity that coral and the symbolic universe to which it refers still arouse today, but they also hold an intrinsic interest on two levels: the first, easily intuitable, linked to popular customs and beliefs, and the second as an artistic manifestation to be related to the historicist eclecticism that also affected Sicilian decorative arts during the 19th century.

Il suo nome storicamente è soprattutto legato alla nota vicenda politica che, tra il 1871 e il 1872, portò alla concessione delle torri del Balio al conte Agostino Sieri Pepoli. The Circulation of Alabaster Versions of the Madonna of Trapani in the Mediterranean Area (Sicily, Malta and Spain). An Artistic, Cultural, Religious and Social Phenomenon of the Modern Period
This paper deals with the phenomenon of the diffusion of small religious works of art, in particular the alabaster copies of the Madonna of Trapani, in the Mediterranean, between the second half of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and attempts to interpret this diffusion not only within the historical-artistic context but also from a religious, economic and social viewpoint.

L’inventario dei giogali del cavaliere Fra’ Alessio di Ferro (1700-80): alcune considerazioni sull’oreficeria tra Sicilia e Malta
The article deals with the inventory, in part unpublished, of 1763 of the jewels owned by the knight of Saint John Fra 'Alessio di Ferro, which is located in the State Archives in Trapani. He was an illustrious exponent of one of the most prominent families in the centuries of the city of Trapani linked to the island of Malta. The inventory offers the opportunity to reflect on typologies, materials and styles most in vogue between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries in the Mediterranean jewellery and, consequently, the inspiration for some transversal reflections concerning the history of the male jewelry, still little explored, among Sicily and Malta.

The article deals with the inventory of 1763 of the giogali owned by the knight of Saint John Fra' Alessio di Ferro, which is located in the State Archives in Trapani. In particular, these are some notes relating to the silver items in his possession. Alessio di Ferro was an illustrious exponent of one of the most prominent families in the centuries of the city of Trapani linked to the island of Malta.
La diffusione del culto della Madonna del Pilar in ambito mediterraneo: un capezzale trapanese in corallo a Malta
The article deals with the spread of the devotion to Our Lady of the Pillar in Our Lady of the Pillar, particularly in Sicily and Malta. Initially the birth and the affirmation of this cult in Spain are investigated, starting from the tradition of her appearance in 40 AD. to the Apostle James the Great near the shores of the Ebro river, near today's Zaragoza. From the Iberian peninsula the cult has spread to all the territories historically linked to the Spanish crown.
