The HERIDI project (EU Heritage Diplomacy and the Dynamics of Inter-Heritage Dialogue) opens new horizons in the research of new diplomacy by investigating a gap in current research: the uses of heritage in EU foreign policy and international cultural relations. The project explores these uses as EU heritage diplomacy. HERIDI scrutinizes EU heritage diplomacy simultaneously as it is being developed and implemented by various actors in EU member states and external countries. Policy Brief: Clarifying Culture-Related Concepts in European Education Policies

Education policies are crucial means to enhance peaceful co- existence in a culturally diverse Europe. Culture is, however, a challenging policy topic as general references to it may raise a question of ‘what and whose culture’ the policies are addressing. Based on the DIALLS project’s concept analysis of the EU's and the Council of Europe’s education policy documents, we recommend reducing their ambiguity by being explicit and precise with regard to the culture-related concepts contained within them. Target audience: Authors of future European education policies.

Policy Brief: Dialogue, Argumentation, and Creative Practices as Tools in Cultural Literacy Learning in Europe

One of the greatest challenges in today’s European societies is the polarization of societal groups and opinions. Attempts to tackle this challenge need to start from children and young people. Cultural literacy learning is a key to advance tolerant, empathetic, and inclusive attitudes towards diversity and differences. It is important that the EU strengthens its current education initiatives and policies and creates new ones emphasizing cultural literacy learning based on dialogue and argumentation as core skills for participating in a pluralistic society.
