Simbolo della produzione tessile italiana, l’immagine che maggiormente ha caratterizzato Prato per lungo tempo è quella della città-fabbrica, in cui residenza e industria hanno convissuto in maniera aggregata rappresentando il cosiddetto “mito pratese”. Con il tempo questa immagine è cambiata, è aumentato il benessere, sono cambiate le strutture sociali, è aumentata l’insofferenza nei confronti di situazioni e funzioni del passato non più contrapposte, in alcuni casi, da un senso identitario da parte degli abitanti. Questo ha portato, negli ultimi anni, ad un insediamento sempre maggiore del settore terziario e di ulteriori residenze nella città-fabbrica a discapito delle attività produttiv…
