description

One of research field of the group is applying low-temperature plasma sources (as e.g. wall-stabilized arc or barrier discharge source) for excitation of atoms and ions. Based on the registered spectra the atomic data as the transition probabilities or Stark-broadening parameters are determined. The Stark-broadening of the spectral line in the plasma is studied also by theoretical methods (including numerical simulation). In order to improve the quality of obtained atomic data, study of properties and phenomena present the plasma produced in those sources (as e.g. demixing effect or thermal equilibrium) are next object of interest. It is associated with development of the diagnostic techniques and modifications of the design of those plasma sources. The second, important topic is participation in big experiments associated with magnetic confinement fusion. Members of the group are participating in campaigns on tokamak JET (Joint European Torus in Culham, Oxfordsire UK, https://ccfe.ukaea.uk/research/joint-european-torus/), tokamak ASDEX-U (in Garching bei München, Germany, https://www.ipp.mpg.de/16195/asdex) and stellarator Wendelstein 7-X (in Greifswald, Germany, https://www.ipp.mpg.de/w7x). The group is specialized in spectroscopy of impurities of the fusion plasma (mainly registered in UV and XUV range). In cooperation with IPP Greifswald and IPPLM (in Warsaw, Poland) a new construction, special spectrometer of XUV/Soft X-ray "C/O monitor for W7-X" was designed. The construction of this spectrometer is in its final stage.
