The laboratory was born from the comparison between Cultural Studies and the practical and theoretical urgencies detected in the recent debate on Italian Theory, therefore within that paradigm that has relaunched contemporary Italian thought. The laboratory, part of the international research group “ Italian Thought Network”, operates on three conceptual axes and is powered by their possible, desired and determined encounters: the bios, whose “cultural” analysis is enriched by a fruitful, and in Italy pioneering, attention to neuroscience and cognitive science; (bio)politics, thematized starting from the Foucauldian lesson but “forced” to interact with Gramsci’s elaboration, inspiring the international Cultural Studies and, in our perspective, so attentive to the theme of bios as to result, still today, a lively trajectory to be followed in the analysis of the “political” and of its incidences and premises, pedagogical and cultural; the forms of representation, analyzed in continuity with the most advanced results achieved by international Visual Studies but with openings that lead to the shores, in Italy little explored, of (bio)poetics, of the devices of reproduction and digital proliferation of images, of the cultural practice of social groups and antagonist political movements.
