Created in the 1950s to break down the barriers between disciplines and university traditions in the Humanities and Social Sciences (SHS), the Maisons des Sciences de l'Homme (Human Sciences Centres) have expanded to cover the entire country and to meet the challenges of research in SHS at the beginning of this century. The MSH is a collective dynamic that starts from the research teams, organizes the confrontation with the actors through whom social transformations take place, proceeds by setting up problems that are themselves objects of interdisciplinary programs, leading to research results that are brought to circulate on the scenes of social debate. MSH is a joint venture of almost all research groups and laboratories involved in human sciences, from economy up to psychology, history, arts, etc.
