The Laboratory carries out research on the use of digital technologies - for the documentation, study, visualization, and fruition of Cultural Heritage - whose digital models lend themselves to different applications also in support of tourist fruition, such as: three-dimensional contents for the web, the vision of virtual reconstructions in situ, virtual museums and bookshops. The Laboratory is able to carry out architectural surveys with instruments and technologies at a high level of detail, the analysis of the state of preservation of the artifacts, the virtual reconstruction of the original configuration of the works of art or architecture and the three-dimensional modeling for the simulation of existing, lost or altered works of art and buildings. Moreover, it actively collaborates with the researchers of the Department of Chemical, Management, Informatics and Mechanical Engineering of the University of Palermo, for the development of technologies for the visualization and implementation of multimodal voice guides. The structure has several hardware and software equipment, as well as its own technical instruments such as devices for monoscopic and stereoscopic visualization.
