description

The Palaeobiology Laboratory team and European Centre of Palaeontology (ECP) are to become a research, education and conference centre for the University of Opole and its partners. The centre is thought of as a tailor-made place for collecting, preparation, storage and study of fossils, and is to include museum exhibits. It may also serve as an anchor in the acquisition of scientific grants within international co-operative schemes, and thus improve the success rate. We conduct research in the field of palaeobiology, organize scientific conferences (including e. g. EAVP and IMPERP) and field schools, popularize science and coordinate international Master Studies in palaeobiology programme at the University of Opole. Our research focuses mainly on Mesozoic fossils of the Opole region – marine fauna of Middle Triassic (Muschelkalk), Late Triassic terrestrial fauna of Krasiejów and marine flora and fauna of Cretaceous deposits of Opole – including different projects and methods like morphology, osteology, microfossil analysis, palaeohistology and other.
