English: In 1919 the city of Valencia celebrated, for the first time, the centenary of Saint Vincent Ferrer’s passing away. And perhaps, due to the lack of a commemorative tradition and to the difficult political and social situation at the time —and possibly also because of the yearning of the main promoters, the Dominican Order in Valencia, to please the ruling party— some of the most important events of the anniversary, such as the resolution of the historical, artistic and literary contest and the inauguration of a commemorating stone, ended up being delayed for over two years. Even though, a new Vicentine landmark was set, and thanks to the involvement of cultural associations like Lo Rat Penat and the Centre of Valencian Culture the language of the Valencian People was not the great absentee of the celebration
