Expressive writing and guidance interview as educational tecniques for building high school students’ professional life Project.

Professional guidance is an inescapable duty of the teachers who are already engaged at school teaching curricular disciplines. The students, at the end of the high school, need a teacher-tutor who knows them well and how to use valid tools to assist them in the construction of their professional life project. Without being specialists in professional guidance, teachers can learn to use the “SeCo” methodology (“Expressive Writing and Guidance Interview”) to accompany their students in the delicate process that leads them to choose a specific training-professional option. In this article, after mentioning the theories of “personal growth through writing about oneself” built by Pennebaker and “non-directivity” developed by Rogers in which the “SeCo” methodology is inspired, we describe the heuristic itinerary (2015 - 2018) that has led to the development of this methodology: the pilot research published in 2015 demonstrates that prospective writing has a positive effect on the sense of self-efficacy and decisional capacity of the students, and the professional future represents the topic most described by them during the writing sessions; exploratory research published in 2017 demonstrates, at the same time, the effectiveness of the prospective writing and guidance interview on the aforementioned soft skills and the methodological limits of experimental plan used. Finally, we present the five main phases of the guidance process developed to carry out an upcoming experimentation with a wider sample of students in which the “SeCo” methodology will be used. La orientación profesional es un deber ineludible de los docentes que ya están comprometidos en la escuela enseñando disciplinas curriculares. Los alumnos, al final de los estudios de bachillerato, necesitan un docente-tutor que les conozca bien y sepan utilizar herramientas válidas para ayudarles en la construcción de su proyecto de vida profesional. Sin ser especialistas en la orientación profesional, los profesores pueden aprender a usar la metodología “SeCo” (“Escritura expresiva y Entrevista de orientación”) para acompañar a sus alumnos en el delicado proceso que les lleva a elegir una específica opción formativa-profesional. En este artículo, después de mencionar las teorías del “crecimiento personal a través de la escritura sobre uno mismo” de Pennebaker y de la “no directividad” de Rogers en las que la metodología “SeCo” se inspira, describimos el itinerario heurístico (2015-2018) que ha llevado al desarrollo de esta metodología. Con la investigación piloto publicada en 2015, se demuestra que la escritura prospectiva tiene un efecto positivo en el sentido de autoeficacia y en la capacidad decisional de los estudiantes y que el futuro profesional representa el tema más descrito por ellos durante las sesiones de escritura; con la investigación exploratoria publicada en 2017, se demuestra la eficacia de la escritura prospectiva y de la entrevista de orientación sobre las competencias transversales antes mencionadas y, al mismo tiempo, se captan los límites metodológicos del plan experimental utilizado. Por último, presentamos las cinco fases principales del proceso de orientación desarrolladas para realizar una próxima experimentación con una muestra más amplia de estudiantes en la que se utilizará la metodología “SeCo”.
