International audience; This article studies the speech and the political action of the Zapatista movement,considering both as a communicative practice that is articulated among a plurality of uses and“cultural matrices” (Martín Barbero, 1987) in what has constituted the Neozapatista social subject.Firstly, the discursive aspects of the Zapatista statements are reviewed, with their narrativestrategies, key representations and conditions of reproduction. Secondly, an emphasis is made onthe systematic study of its political-media trajectory throughout its already long history, analyzingthe conventions, the encounters and other Zapatista actions and political initiatives. The resultsoffer an overview about the identity construction of a social subject of polysemic nature thatforges itself to the heat of a communicative process that lies with a plurality of groups andindividuals of various nature.; Este artículo estudia la palabra y la acción política zapatista, estimándolas comoprácticas comunicativas que se articulan entre una pluralidad de usos y “matricesculturales” (Martín Barbero, 1987) en lo que ha venido a conformarse como sujeto socialNeozapatista. Inicialmente se repasan los aspectos discursivos de los comunicados zapatistas, susestrategias narrativas, claves de representación y condiciones de reproducción. En segundo lugar,se hace hincapié en el estudio sistemático de su caminar político-mediático a lo largo de su yaprolongada historia, pasando revista a las convenciones, los encuentros y demás acciones einiciativas políticas zapatistas. Los resultados ofrecen una panorámica sobre la construcciónidentitaria de un sujeto social de naturaleza polisémica que se fragua a sí mismo al calor de unproceso comunicativo que incumbe a una amplia pluralidad de grupos e individuos de diversaíndole.
