The subject of this study is one of the central truths of liturgical theology, especially of the theology of the Word of God, which in some aspects were re-discovered by the Second Vatican Council. In the first part, the author addresses the ąuestion of presence of Christ in the Liturgy of the Word, where Hc Himself speaks and sanctifies. In the second part, our attention is focused on the presence of the Holy Spirit in the Liturgy of the Word. The considerations lead to the conclusion that in our teaehing and the practice of prayer the Christological and Pneumatological dimension must always take into account consideration the Trinitarian dimension. Then and only then can one omit the monism and symmetrism in the relation to Christ and the Holy Spirit. The correct view on the Liturgy of the Word underlines that besides the kerygmatic function it also has a sanctifying role. It happens by the power of the Holy Spirit, which manifests Christ Himself in the Eucharistic celebration in many different ways.
