Mercy - an important category of Catholic pedagogy God is the One who is present, close, holy, and merciful. An important task of every Christian is to recognise the merciful look of Jesus Christ. He is the only hope for sinful people. Mercy is the bridge that connects God and man, opening our hearts to the hope of being loved forever despite our sinfulness. Mercy is the fundamental idea of Catholic pedagogy: every Christian is called to show mercy because mercy has first been shown to him. Pardoning offences becomes the clearest expression of merciful love, and for the Christians it is an imperative from which we cannot excuse oursełves. Jesus made mercy an ideał of life and a criterion for the credibility of faith: “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Mt 5,7). The beatitude should inspire the Catholic education not only in an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy.
