Dentro de su extensa bibliografía se destaca la riqueza y variedad de los trabajos de lingüística y dialectología que, desde 1955, Giovanni Meo Zilio (1923-2006) ha dedicado al área rioplatense, mostrando especial interés por los ámbitos del habla popular y de las lenguas en contacto, en particular, las modalidades del cocoliche y del lunfardo, a las cuales ha reservado estudios fundamentales, así como al lenguaje gauchesco, que estudió y tradujo al italiano. Within the vast bibliography of Giovanni Meo Zilio (1923-2006) stand out the richness and variety of the works of linguistics and dialectology that, since 1955, the scholar dedicated to the rioplatense area. Giovanni Meo Zilio shows a keen interest in the sphere of popular speech and languages in contact, and writes fundamental studies on the modalities of cocoliche and lunfardo, as well as the gaucho language that he studied and translated into Italian.
