New forms of materiał, morał and spiritual poverty (Pope Francis) that are still changing and developing reąuire new forms and ways of practicing charity. According to the teaching of Pope Francis, it is not enough to give bread to the poor and the needy, they need the access to work, education and development. Following this path, it is worth noting the poor in other areas than just materiał poverty. This paper will focus on two groups: “the poor in sensitivity to others”, that is ailing in being merciful and those suffering from a lack of freedom, that is enslaved and endangered by this form of poverty. The novelty of the proposed form of the practice of mercy is to use methods of edutainment, that is shaping certain attitudes, forming and learning with the help of fun, which is the element that increases attractiveness of the whole process of education. After outlining the expanding spectrum of human poverty that demands “the imagination of mercy”, the paper presents examples of gamification, now conąuering the market of edutainment to stimulate pro-social and aid attitudes, especially among young people. As part of the analysis of the practical forms of implementing mercy two specific educational projects were examined. The first one - called “Inspire - works of mercy” - was prepared in the Year of Mercy in response to the contemporary need for shaping young people’s willingness to do good in relation to others. In particular, it relates to “łearning mercy”, that is raising awareness materially and spiritually towards the needy using the whole richness of Catholic teaching on the basis of the examples of the saints, teaching of contemporary popes, especially Pope Francis and the words of the Bibie. The other project - “Game-XReloaded” uses the knowledge of behavioral addictions to counteract the enslavement to modern non-substantial drugs, for example gambling, sex, shopping, internet, mobile phone or sport. This project is in the preparation stage and is especially directed to the younger generation, bearing in mind that prevention is better than cure. Lack of freedom is the new scourge of modern times, therefore, it seems that more attention and sensitivity should be paid to this form of poverty.
