Although women have contributed to the development of science from the earliest times, their participation has not always been noticed. The breakthrough in the career path of women was World War I, in the consequence of which women gained the possibility of studying at universities and pursuing the academic activity. The presented article is an attempt at bringing to light the memory of the women-pioneers and their scientific acdvity in the field of Polish pedagogy at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
