description

National Park is in Рolish law one of the most important protection form that is dedicated to areas sustained in natural conditions, having fairly untouched vegetation and biodiversity. Despite that the Silesian Forest-Nature District has a unique areas in terms of nature values as well as cultural and biodiversity heritage, no national parks were established here until now. In the proposed national park of Silesian Forest 50 legally protected plant species were noted, in this 16 listed as threatened in Polish Red Data Book. More than 130 plant species were found rare within the area. Approximately 250 legally protected animal species are found within park borders that are permanent residents and have breeding areas here (in this 165 birds). Out of that number, 47 species are noted in country red lists and 18 are considered as threatened globally. It is also worth to mention that the park encompasses one of the most important areas of postglacial dunes and other forms, particularly if comparing regions of the south Poland. In the park a considerable area is included in Natura 2000 network as SPA "Grądy Odrzańskie" and SACs "Lasy Barucickie", "Łąki w okolicach Karłowic nad Stobrawą" and "Grądy Odrzańskie". The unique wonders of river network, beauty of rural landscape, extensive economy and anthropogenic pressure gua-rantee that the park could be easily established and achieve its aims without causing a serious conflicts or direct dama-ges in human economy but significantly raise the conservation effectiveness.
