description

The essay identifies the free self-alienation and the reconciliation as the specific character of the Phenomenology of spirit last chapter, as opposed to an interpretation of the absolute knoweledge as appropriation of the other in the self-consciousness. Such self-alienation has already been developped by Hegel in the religion chapter. What is yet unachieved in the religion chapter is not due to the presence of the otherness, which is to be taken off, on the path of self-becoming and self-consciousness, but to the last opposition to and exclusion of it. The overcoming of the exclusion makes the difference between the self-consciousness in the chapter IV and the self-consciousness of the spirit. The inclusion of the other is already realized in the content of the revealed religion but not in the form “religion”, which is imprisoned in the reference to an abstract divinity. The aim of the absolute knowledge is to change the sense of absolute, which now means the overcoming of the Entfremdung through the Entäusserung and the Versöhnung, or through the unification of the self-consciousness with the consciousness: the absolute spirit makes itself other and includes the other in its identity.
